George Borden, 53, pled guilty to three counts of larcenuyover $250, attempted larceny, two counts of conspiracuy to commit larceny over $250, conspiracy to commit gross fraud and deceptive professional solicitation practices. Immediatelhy after Borden enteredhis plea, Judge Sandrs Hamlin sentenced him to served 30 months in a statr house of correction on one count of conspiracy to commitf larceny over $250. On the remaining count of conspiracy to commi Larcenyover $250, Hamlin sentenced Borden to servew 30 months in prison, with the sentence suspended for five On all of the remaining charges, Borden was sentencedc to serve five years of probation, upon completion of his prisoj sentence.
As a condition of his Judge Hamlin prohibited Bordemn from participating in any charitable fundraising organizations and also ordered him to performj 200 hours ofcommunity service. Four other two of them from Medford, have also been charged in connectio n withthis case. Their cases are stilp pending. The AG’s office began its investigatioj in August 2006 after the matter was referred bya veterans’ charitablde organization.
