RF Micro makes chipx for cell phones and other wireless device s and has been reducing expenses and its employee headcount as the recessionm has weakenedglobal demand. About 600 jobs have been lost at the companh in the Triad over thepast year, bringing its loca l employee count to around 1,400. The note to analysta did not say any of those jobs wouls becoming back, but it did say that “order activith improved as the quarter progressed and, as a factory utilization rates at quarter-ene were at significantly higher levels than when the quarte began.
” The company expects its factories to get back to around theier average use rates during the current quartee “due to improving demand,” but also becauswe the company has reduced its overall productiomn capacity. The company will report detaile d quarterly financial information onApril 28.
