Atrea is Best Western’s upper midscale prototyper hotel concept designed to attractbusinessw travelers. The property opened late last month. The 77-roomk hotel is located less than a mile from Lacklandc AirForce Base. It includes more than 1,00 0 square feet of meetinvg space, an indoor pool and spa, a business centert and fitness center. Hotel guestss receive free high-speed Internet access and a complimentary hotbreakfasr buffet. “The Atrea prototype was designed and built with directr input from frequent travelers and thedevelopment community,” says Davird Kong, president and CEO of Best Western International.
“It’s gratifying to see years of researcu and hard workbear fruit. Best Western now has a product that can competse effectively in theupper mid-scale market, while delivering the superior consumer valuew that is the hallmark of our Phoenix-based Best Western first announced plans for the new midsizedc brand at the company’s annual convention in October 2007. Since developers have committed to build 29 Atre hotel properties in theUnited States, with six planned to open in 2009. Hote l owner Ajay Patel says the Atrea hote caters to business executives andmilitary personnel.
Patel says the hoteo is also drawing in leisuree travelers who are heading to SeaWorld San Antonio and Fiestaq Texas and the San Antonio River Best Western International billds itself asthe world’s largest hotep chain. The company provides marketing, reservationsa and operational support to morethan 4,000 independentlyh owned and operated hotels worldwide.
