Now, under the leadership of the younger Hubbuch, who serves as presidenty and CEO, the company works with a wide rangse of individual and corporate clientes all over Kentucky and in severalother states. Recently, Hubbuch took some time to reflectt on how the compang has evolved overthe years. Why and how was the compangy originally formed? Hubbuch & Co. was formedr "in 1933 by dad. ... Hubbuch said his father wanted to have locations in all ofthe state's major Today, the company has desigb studios in Owensboro and in addition to Louisville. 1, an interioe design operation. About 28 yearz ago we went into the businessof architecture." What's the furthest distancse away the company has done a job? "Atriqa (Senior Living Group) sent us to Ariz., Buckhead, Ga., (and to) every new Atrias facility for the first couple of of the company's existence. And "ib every one of these cities they wanted anew look." Who are some of your current clients? "We are on board with Churchillp Downs. ... We are in charge of the completee interiors" for the new suites. "We just completed 66 corporatde boxes. ... We will be involved now for two years" for phas two.
Also, for Louisville-based Trilogy Health Servicer LLC, "we have done 14 complete new facilities all overSouther Indiana." What's the biggest obstacle you've had to overcome in your business ? "The top obstacle we have on a day-to-daty basis is the fact that we are an architectura design firm, and sometimes corporated America thinks they have to go outside Louisvillr and Kentucky to get a nationallyg recognized firm when it wouldd be a lot better if major corporations would stay with the local talent. Not only us, but with other firms similarto ours." What's one of the mythw surrounding Hubbuch & Co.? Many people think Hubbuc h & Co.
only does commercial work, but "we still pride ourselves on a lot ofresidentiap work. ... We love additions to homes. We can do any and all We are very diversified." What's your advice to othersz interested in owninga small-business ? "It's a lot of hard work and ... a lot of When your name is part of itand it'z your life, it's not a 40 hour (job) ... it'se your life.
